GIANNIS ANTETOKOUNMPO HIS RESILIENCE CAN’T BE STOPPED

Milwaukee Bucks star Giannis Antetokounmpo is preparing for Game 4 of the NBA Finals Wednesday night. With Antetokounmpo's knee injury during the Eastern Conference Finals, he was cleared to play the Finals. If he and his teammates win Game 4, they even the series with the Phoenix Suns. He's a two-time NBA MVP and determined to win his first NBA championship. The Greek Freak is also a contender to win the NBA Finals MVP alongside Phoenix Suns players Chris Paul and Devin Booker. During Sunday's Game 3, he dominated the game with his second straight 40-point game. Despite the losing the first two games, he sought vengeance and revived the Bucks towards victory.

JOHN FOLEY COMMITTED UNTIL THE WHEELS FALL OFF

Founder and CEO of Peloton John Foley was once the former president of e-commerce at Barnes & Noble. Foley is a simple man, who lives in New York City, married to Jill Foley who is the Vice President of Apparel for Peloton, and father of two. His routines are simple and he always makes it a point to work out before leaving his home.

As a competitive cyclist and tri-athlete, he started his in-home exercise start-up in 2013. As one of the co-founders, he believed streaming instructor-led fitness programs would inspire people to work out from home. He imagined this would be more convenient for people who are busy given his experience once his family started. During the third-quarter, the company saw a 141% increase in sales growth. Despite delivery bottlenecks during the pandemic and the popularity rise in at-home exercising, the company did extremely well in sales. Unfortunately, they were faced with a challenge when the recall of the treadmill, Tread+ had to be recalled earlier this year. Foley is taking the proper steps to ensure the safety features for their treadmill products are the best.

SYDNEY MCLAUGHLIN TRUSTING THE PROCESS

At the Olympic Trials, Sydney McLaughlin broke the world record in the 400m hurdles. The track athlete is heading to Tokyo and has a chance to win an Olympic medal. She relies heavily on her faith in God when it comes to her life especially during her training. During the pandemic, her faith grew and helped her exponentially. McLaughlin gained understanding in knowing her identity was not found in track, it's just simply what she does. Whether she wins or loses, she is confident and secure in her identity.

During her post-race victory interview, she told reporters, “Honestly, this season just working with my new coach and my new support system, it’s truly just faith and trusting the process. I couldn’t ask for anything more and truly it is all a gift from God.” McLaughlin gave God all the glory and praise for her big win. She is bold and expressive of her faith throughout her social media platforms and even on the track. Her relationship with God is more important than anything she does and anything she has because without Him, she would not be where she is. Despite any frustrations she experiences, she leaves her future in the hands of God because He is in control.

SIMONE MANUEL SWIMMING TOWARDS VICTORY

U.S. swimmer Simone Manuel just secured her spot in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Manuel won the 50-meter freestyle during the Olympic swimming trial by 0.01 seconds, making her qualified to compete in Tokyo next month. This incredible win was not an easy journey as she was diagnosed with overtraining syndrome earlier this year. The stress of 2020 caught up to Manuel, burdening her and resulting to her burnout. Manuel was mentally, emotionally, and physically drained. This battle was a big fight so she took the most appropriate route, taking a three-week break in April. By taking the proper precautions and treatments to avoid future episodes, Manuel is making it a priority to take care of herself and plans to get plenty of rest so it does not impact or threaten her performance and health at the upcoming Olympics.

SHA’CARRI RICHARDSON ‘THAT’ GIRL IS RUNNING HER RACE

Now the fastest woman in America, the new Olympian Sha'Carri Richardson is on her way to the Tokyo Olympics! This past weekend the track star made the U.S. Olympic team for the first time and will represent America this summer. Richardson won the 100-meter with a time of 10.86 seconds. She made it known that she wants the world to know that she's "that girl." She is grounded, grateful, and gracious as she took this moment not just for herself but with her biggest support system, her family. She pushed through, showed out, and continued to pursue her dreams during the Olympic trials just days after the passing of her biological mother. Richardson has gone viral on the internet because of her fantastic win, her fierce confidence, and her victory run towards her grandmother, capturing the heart and attention of fans, old and new. She is now known to be the youngest woman to win the 100-meter during an Olympic trail since 1980.

Phoenix Suns shooting guard Devin Booker worked hard with his team to be where they are. The Suns’ the Los Angeles Lakers in round one of the NBA playoffs and now face the Denver Nuggets in the Western Conference Semifinals. Last month, Booker received the NBA Cares Community Assist Award. This award reflects the heart and passion for the community and one player is selected each month. The NBA and Kaiser Permanente will donate $10,000 to Special Olympics Arizona. In May, he granted five local nonprofit organizations $100,000 through his Devin Booker Starting Five initiative. These resources are to help the organizations who have been in need of funding especially during the pandemic, and they can continue to operate their programs that support the livelihood of local families and youth. During the Thanksgiving holiday, Michael Jordan donated $2 million to Feeding America. Feeding America tweeted Jordan’s comments, “In these challenging times and in a year of unimaginable difficulty due to COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to pause and give thanks. Today marks one year since the loss of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and seven others on January 26, 2020.
