22-year-old Japanese Olympic gold medalist Yuto Horigome dominated the skateboarding competitions at the Tokyo Olympics this year. This made him the first gold medal winner in the men's street skateboarding competition. Horigome has been skating since the age of 7 and now he is leading a new generation of skaters. A new standard has been set for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers organization since their Super Bowl LV win this year with the help of the team and their new quarterback Tom Brady. At the Olympic Trials, Sydney McLaughlin broke the world record in the 400m hurdles. The track athlete is heading to Tokyo and has a chance to win an Olympic medal. She relies heavily on her faith in God when it comes to her life especially during her training. During the pandemic, her faith grew and helped her exponentially. McLaughlin gained understanding in knowing her identity was not found in track, it's just simply what she does. Whether she wins or loses, she is confident and secure in her identity.

During her post-race victory interview, she told reporters, “Honestly, this season just working with my new coach and my new support system, it’s truly just faith and trusting the process. I couldn’t ask for anything more and truly it is all a gift from God.” McLaughlin gave God all the glory and praise for her big win. She is bold and expressive of her faith throughout her social media platforms and even on the track. Her relationship with God is more important than anything she does and anything she has because without Him, she would not be where she is. Despite any frustrations she experiences, she leaves her future in the hands of God because He is in control.

U.S. swimmer Simone Manuel just secured her spot in the 2021 Olympics in Tokyo. Manuel won the 50-meter freestyle during the Olympic swimming trial by 0.01 seconds, making her qualified to compete in Tokyo next month. This incredible win was not an easy journey as she was diagnosed with overtraining syndrome earlier this year. The stress of 2020 caught up to Manuel, burdening her and resulting to her burnout. Manuel was mentally, emotionally, and physically drained. This battle was a big fight so she took the most appropriate route, taking a three-week break in April. By taking the proper precautions and treatments to avoid future episodes, Manuel is making it a priority to take care of herself and plans to get plenty of rest so it does not impact or threaten her performance and health at the upcoming Olympics.

Today marks one year since the loss of Kobe Bryant, Gianna Bryant, and seven others on January 26, 2020. We remember their lives, pay tribute to them, and continue to send our love and prayers to their family and friends. On this day of remembrance, we are reminded of how precious life is and what it means to truly live in our purpose more and more.

As the year has gone by, the impact of his loss is still felt. Tributes to Kobe Bryant continue on, from the hundreds of global murals across Los Angeles and to the Philippines, thousands commemorate his life in various ways across different platforms. The Academy Award winner, NBA Hall of Famer, Five-Time NBA Champion, New York Times Best-Selling author, youth coach, and most importantly, father to Natalia, Gianna, Bianka, and Capri, and husband to Vanessa, was dedicated in every role he had his hand in.

Despite any challenges, he persevered and championed every obstacle. Kobe once said, “Everything negative – pressure, challenges – is all an opportunity for me to rise.” That’s what he did, not just for himself but for his family and his community. Diligent, persistent, and committed. Kobe planted seeds of possibility and hard work around the globe, allowing us to channel our own Mamba Mentality. We celebrate his life and honor his legacy.
