At the Olympic Trials, Sydney McLaughlin broke the world record in the 400m hurdles. The track athlete is heading to Tokyo and has a chance to win an Olympic medal. She relies heavily on her faith in God when it comes to her life especially during her training. During the pandemic, her faith grew and helped her exponentially. McLaughlin gained understanding in knowing her identity was not found in track, it's just simply what she does. Whether she wins or loses, she is confident and secure in her identity.

During her post-race victory interview, she told reporters, “Honestly, this season just working with my new coach and my new support system, it’s truly just faith and trusting the process. I couldn’t ask for anything more and truly it is all a gift from God.” McLaughlin gave God all the glory and praise for her big win. She is bold and expressive of her faith throughout her social media platforms and even on the track. Her relationship with God is more important than anything she does and anything she has because without Him, she would not be where she is. Despite any frustrations she experiences, she leaves her future in the hands of God because He is in control.

The process is necessary because you will always end up where you are meant to be!

“Blessed is the man who trusts in the LORD, whose trust is the LORD. He is like a tree planted by water, that sends out its roots by the stream, and does not fear when heat comes, for its leaves remain green, and is not anxious in the year of drought, for it does not cease to bear fruit." - Jeremiah 17:7-8
