adidas CEO Kasper Rørsted says that the fashion industry should aim to become more eco-friendly and sustainable due to the impact and damage the environment is facing. Social media has become a great tool and resource to ensure companies are being held accountable in order to drive their social corporate responsibility efforts. It's the responsibility of companies to innovate and implement solutions for the global environment. With the future literally at stake, the goal is to be less wasteful, developing more sustainable products, and not to disrupt the future. adidas and other European companies have been ahead and Rørsted says, "we see ourselves as a leader in sustainability, but we actually welcome everybody who has taken a step forward." This summer, adidas will release an eco-friendly version of their classic Stan Smith shoe. The Stan Smith Mylo will be made from a renewable mushroom called mycelium, which will serve as a sustainable leather material. This innovation is a pledge towards adidas' commitment to END PLASTIC WASTE. The CEO believes the shoe will be in high demand since consumers prefer to purchase more sustainable products.
