The thirteen time Grammy Award winning singer, rapper, and record producer Pharrell Williams is no stranger to the word of God. Williams speaks truth, quotes scripture, and proclaims ‘God is the Greatest’. He spreads the word about God’s unwavering promises and makes it abundantly clear that no man is powerful enough to deter His will. Pharrell uses his popularity and platform to soothe the troubled, reminding his followers about the grace of God.
“Your mistakes, or bad decisions, or whatever it is that makes you human, God isn’t going to give up on His purpose for you.” Pharrell elaborates,“Whatever God has for you, He is going to see to it that it happens...Whatever lessons you need to incur because you made bad decisions, that's on you. But whatever He has for you - no man, no situation, not even the ill informed or ill instinct’s decisions can get in the way of that.”
Pharrell encourages his fans to hold on to God’s promises. Despite hardships, there will come a purpose. In a season of darkness, there will be light. Williams assures that God’s plan is omnipotent and that He will keep you on the right path. “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.” -Deuteronomy 31:6
Pharrell’s current project echoes the same sentiment; he teams up with Netflix for a docuseries about gospel singers that share testimonies and life stories of overcoming hardship and finding faith and peace in Christ. The upbeat, feel-good project, titled “Voices of Fire'' will follow Pharrell on a journey to build one of the world's most inspiring and diverse gospel choirs.
Encouraging and lifting up the overlooked is a hallmark of Williams’ work. Pharrell continues to empower others to build a life on God’s foundational messages and gives credit to the One who created it all. “God is the greatest. Make no mistake, God is the greatest.”
