The musician and artist, Solange recently revealed she was fighting for her life when she was making her album, “When I Get Home.” She said she was unhealthy and had a broken spirit. The soulful singer used her gifting and creative outlet to save her life by allowing her to work through those emotions. As mental health awareness becomes more normalized, she used those moments as a catalyst. Solange crafted this album by isolating herself and her talent, leading to the inception of this album. Solange walked into the opened doors in front of her and she declared to honor it. With any open door, she says you can’t go backwards. In honor of the album’s two year anniversary, she released a remastered director’s cut version of her film. This stunning film followed with a Blackplanet page that includes digital activations and special screenings. Solange is allowing fans to share images and their mediums of art about how this album impacted their life.
