Today we congratulate the newly appointed Artistic Director of KENZO, Nigo, who is known to be one of the most talented and influential Japanese designers of our time. The announcement was made by LVMH. This marks new history for KENZO. He is the first Japanese designer in this position since 1999. The company was founded by Kenzō Takada in 1970. Nigo is innovative and recalls a strong relationship and history with KENZO.

In Nigo's Instagram post, he shared parallel histories that align this very moment in time:

"I have been appointed the new Creative Director of KENZO. I was born in the year that Takada Kenzo san opened his first store in Paris. We both graduated from the same fashion school in Tokyo. In 1993, the year that KENZO joined the LVMH Group, I started my career in fashion. Kenzo san's approach to creating originality was through his understanding of many different cultures. It is also the essence of my own philosophy of creativity. Inheriting the spirit of Kenzo san's craftsmanship to create a new KENZO is the greatest challenge of my 30-year career, but, together with the team, I intend to devote myself to it."

He starts at KENZO on September 20, just one week before Paris Fashion Week begins. He's best known for his brands A Bathing Ape and HUMAN MADE. He's a streetwear phenom and in high demand to collaborate with. Infamous collaborations include founding Billionaire Boys Club and Icecream with Pharrell Williams, Louis Vuitton, and Kaws. His impact in fashion, music, design, and culture spans over two decades and we can guarantee his legacy will continue beyond this lifetime.

The start of something new can be intimidating but a breath of fresh air! Take a deep breath and remember you are right where you're supposed to be! Adjust your posture and know you are in the right position!
